The Importance of Pharmacokinetics

Merrem I.V. penetrates well into most body fluids and tissues1

  • Penetrates well into cerebrospinal fluid, achieving concentrations matching or exceeding the minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs) for most susceptible bacteria1
  • After a single intravenous dose of Merrem I.V., the highest mean concentrations of meropenem were found in fluids and tissues at 1 hour (0.5 to 1.5 hours) after the start of infusion, except where indicated in the Prescribing Information1 (see table 1 in Merrem I.V. Prescribing Information)
  • The pharmacokinetics of meropenem in pediatric patients 2 years of age or older are essentially similar to those in adults1

In vitro activity does not necessarily correlate with clinical effectiveness.
